EMERSON SAID IT
I'll start of by mentioning my peer's name I refrenced the quote from.
Cerenity: " Ne te quaesiveris extra" what this means is " Do not seek outside yourself " or in other words, " Look within". His main arguement is that us, human beings need to rely on themselves (their ideas), follow their instincts, and refrain from allowing society's norms and ideas get to us.This came up by her, starting off our socratic seminar and sharing a quote that really caught her attention, drastically.
Paloma: " What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think." His main arguement is the exhibition of how their is individualsim and self-trust among ourselves and how we find it irrelevant of what people may think or say. This came up by her adding on to someone else comment that connects why we shouldn't bother what people opinions or commentary are.
Gabriel: " Man is timid and apologetic; he is no longer upright; he dares not say 'I think,' 'I am,' but quotes some saint or sage." His main argument is how he illustrates the ideas of the divinity of nature and that is how we should be, because nature doesn't have regrets and it's not self-conscious like us human beings.Which this quote is taken from the other reading along with it and that is how I interpreted the quote. This came up by Gabriel adding to Leslie's disagreement of how Emerson's essay is full of crap
Cesar: " Men have looked away from themselves and at things so long, that they have come to esteem the religious, learned, and civil instutions as guards of property and they deprecate assaults on these, because they feel them to be assualts on property. His main arguement is how we need to cheerish our own thoughts and ideas being trustworthy and wise that we are able to achieve self-reliance. This came up by Cesar adding on to what Gabriel previously said about how we are timid and self-conscious and regret things we do while he (Emerson) later on says we need to be cheerishing our ideas and thoughts.and he supported tihs quote as a piece of evidence that supports all the true and significant ideas he(Emerson) claims and it was also refrenced from the jounal topic.

Jessie: " Every true man is a cause, a country, and an age." His arguement is how every man is dedicated to the truth, not what works with in his culture or his income or his personal desires.Which came up by Jessie, I believe also adding on to Cesar's statement of how we need to work with truth and not what certain cultures, desires, status forbid us from doing, which all ties up again to society imposing all the things we should take in consideration raher than following a dumb post, trend, viral status, we should do than our own way of viewing certain topic and interpreting it.
